Hiroshima Junior International Forum

Overview

Hiroshima Prefecture hosts the Hiroshima Junior International Forum to cultivate the next generation of leaders by having domestic and international high school students discuss global peace, engage with one another, and convey a message of peace to the world.

Contents:

(Varies by year)

  • Approximately 4–5 days (usually in August)
  • Orientation, Team building, Tour of Peace Memorial Park, Hibakusha (A-bomb survivor) testimony
  • Lectures and group discussions (Themes:  abolition of nuclear weapons, reconstruction and peacebuilding)
  • Create and present the Hiroshima Declaration

Outcome of The 10th Hiroshima Junior International Forum (2025)

​Hiroshima Prefectural Government has invited international high school students and Japanese high school students to discuss global peace, share ideas, deepen mutual understanding, and spread a message of peace around the world in order to bring about a world without nuclear weapons.

※Of the overseas participants, those from China, Mexico, South Korea and  USA (bold) are invitees from Sichuan, Guanajuato, Gyeongsangbuk-do and Hawaii, with which Hiroshima Prefecture has friendship and other partnerships.
The participants from Italy and Germany (italic) are from high schools which were visited by the participants of “Youth Peace Caravan in 2023”, who were dispatched to G7 countries following the results of the G7 Hiroshima Summit.
